Fishing

Schools of fish, timing a cast, nets, every sea's fish, meals, the fish album and the weekly fishing prizes.

Schools of fish roam the seas. Come up to one slowly and cast your net: a needle sweeps a ring, and a tap at the right moment brings in a full net. Sell your fish to the fishmonger, cook meals that make you stronger, fill your album and climb the week's best fishers. Fishing gives no experience; it is a quiet way to gold beside fighting.

Schools#

  • Each sea has 5 big schools out at sea and 2 small ones in the harbor's safe waters.
  • A big school takes 3–5 casts, a small one 2; then it scatters and turns up elsewhere after 40–90 seconds.
  • To cast you must be close to the school and almost stopped. Small schools bring fewer, commoner fish.
  • Schools don't show on the minimap: you find them by sailing.

Casting#

  • The needle sweeps the ring once every 1.4 seconds. Tap in the green for a good cast, in the gold inside it for a perfect one; anywhere else the net comes back nearly empty.
  • The green and the gold slide a little on every sweep: follow them with your eye.
  • A perfect cast brings more fish, rarer and heavier ones. There are 4 seconds between casts while the net comes in.

Nets#

Nets are bought with gold, one after another; your best net is always the one used. The rates below were measured on the game's own casting code, on the first sea's big schools.

Fish#

Each sea has its own fish. The fishmonger pays by sea and rarity: a common fish is worth 12 gold in the Emerald Isles, 45 in the Northern Ice Sea and 110 in the Fire Isles; rare 4×, epic 15×, legendary 60×. Sales pay the average weight's price.

Bottles and wrecks#

  • A good or perfect cast on a big school sometimes brings up a bottle: a chart piece, 2 chest keys or 10 crystals.
  • Sometimes a wrecked chest: Emerald Isles 1,000, Northern Ice Sea 3,500, Fire Isles 8,000 gold.

Meals#

Cook meals from your fish; a meal lasts 30 minutes. One meal works at a time; a new one replaces the last.

Fried Sardines 6 × Sardine, 2 × Mackerel+8% speed
Grilled Tuna 2 × Tuna+10% cannon damage
Cod Chowder 4 × Cod, 4 × HerringRepairs 25% more often

The album and records#

  • Every kind you catch goes in the album: how many and the heaviest. Beating your own record is announced to you; records of epic and legendary kinds are announced to everyone on the notice board.
  • Catch every kind of a sea and its page is complete: an achievement, a title, and in the first two seas a look (Hooked Flag, Shoal Sails). Achievements and titles

The week's fishers#

Each fish is worth points by rarity (common 1, rare 4, epic 15, legendary 60). The week's top three fishers get crystals by mail: 150 / 80 / 40.
