In Tidebreaker you set out in a sloop. You sink ships and gather their loot, strengthen your ship in the harbor and, as you level up, move on to bigger ships and harder seas. This page makes your first hour easier.
Controls#
- Drag on the left half of the screen to steer. Tap the sea to set a course. Tap a ship to target it; your cannons fire on their own once it is in range.
- Battle buttons: Repair mends 35% of your hull over 5 seconds (30 s cooldown), the speed burst makes you much faster for 4 seconds (20 s cooldown, from Lv 2).
- Switch your shot with the shot picker; round shot is free and unlimited. Ammo
- Sail over the loot chest a wreck leaves to take its gold and crystals.
Your first voyage#
- On first launch you name your captain (the dice button suggests a free pirate name).
- Drag on the left half of the screen to steer your ship
- Tap the ship under the arrow to target it
- Close in: your cannons fire on their own in range. Sink it!
- Sail over the treasure chest the wreck left behind
- Well done, captain! Head back to port and upgrade your ship at the Shipyard
The harbor and safe waters#
Nobody can attack you in the harbor. In the Shipyard you buy ships, cannons, armour, sails, shot and carpenters, and strengthen your ship with grades and mastery. Grades and mastery
What to buy first#
- Fill your empty gun slots: the Bronze Cannon costs
800, at Lv 3 the Iron Cannon
3,000. More guns means more damage. - The Apprentice Carpenter (
2,000) mends your ship by itself out of battle, so you need the harbor less. - At Lv 4 the Brig (
25,000): two decks make you much stronger. Then the Schooner at Lv 8 and the Frigate at Lv 13. - Armour and sails: Oak Planking from Lv 2, Hemp Sails from Lv 2. Armour and sails

Every day#
- 3 daily quests: gold, crystals and shot. Quests and the Captain's Pass

When you sink#
- Sinking costs you nothing: your gold, gear and experience stay.
- Repair at Harbor: you reappear in the harbor with a full hull (free, after a 10-second wait).
- Revive on the spot: carry on where you sank, by watching an ad (after a 10-second wait) or at once for
20. - A revive gives you a 4-second shield; it ends with your first shot.
